Marine Conservation Education Project

Hong Kong’s marine ecosystem is currently suffering from a wide range of local and global stressors, including overfishing, ocean acidification and microplastic pollution. Yet, an platform for acquiring accurate background knowledge about the aforementioned marine stressors has long been lacking to various stakeholders. These stakeholders include divers who possess first-hand experiences in interacting with marine organisms, and senior secondary school students who are potential divers and future conservationists. By translating the stimulating results of frontier marine research into concepts understandable by the general audience, this project was designed to equip the local diving community and senior secondary students through an online conservation course with up-to-date information regarding marine conservation.
